I've been really into the romanticized end of the Virgin Suicides, in both the book and movie. Everything is so dreamy and pretty and blurry, including the scene in which the sisters die. I've also been inspired by Christiane F. It's based on a true story, which makes it even more tragic, yet many girls emulate Christiane's style and pay homage to her through trips to Bahnhoff Station. I guess I'm most fascinated by the way in which people obsess over material remains of the dead, and how voyeurs use those remains to romanticize the situation. Lux Lisbon's prom crown and lipstick (collected by the neighborhood boys as tokens) are the demise of a lusted-over school girl, the bird Christiane saves from an unlucky addict friend becomes the future she threw away.
